Yes it’s games day here at the N800 Blog! After Duke was ported it’s pretty smart to assume that most games built on that same engine would be ported to the N800 / N810. Shadow Warrior is the next game ported to the Internet Tablets, it’s a classic FPS from Epic Games and one with some real attitude.
10 years ago who would have thought that you would be able to take around to a friends house a portable version of Duke Nukem 3d? Well you now can! Duke Nukem 3D has been ported over to the N800 / N810 and it runs really really well!
I used to play Tyrian years and years ago, my brother and I use to play it for hours and hours trying to beat each others scores… Anyway OpenTyrian is now available for the N800 / N810.
Click here to get instructions on how to to get OpenTyrian setup on your N800 / N810.
This is a very cool peice of news which I found over at the Internet Tablet Talk forums. Bundyo has compiled the MPlayer broswer plug-in for the N800 / N810 browser. He is looking for people to beta test the application and report any bugs / issues that you may find.
Finding gems like this on YouTube really makes me smile. Here’s some general information on the N800 Robot Puppy…
I’ve set up the WiFi on the Nokia N800 to AD-HOC mode. This allows direct communications between the Nokia N770 (which set up as the remote controller) and Nokia N800. However, This demonstration is not controlled by the remote. The Robot (and Nokia N800) is running by itself (using its own sensors as triggers).
You can send text generated voice to the N800 as well. That is, you can make your robot say anything you like
Notice how I built the robot head. Its the only thing I had changed so that I could use four double sided adhesive foam squares (25.4mmx25.4mm). All four adhesive squares can hold up to 1lb (450g). It works very well. It saves me from buying a car mount (or drilling holes in the Nokia N800).
Check out this N800 Robot Puppy!
There are some links in the YouTube overview for people who want more information.
For those who don’t already know, Canola is a media manager / player for the N800 / N810. It’s slick design and rich feature set make it one of the most impressive applications for the Internet Tablets.
Recently the Canola team have released beta 5 which seems to be a much more stable and responsive release, over at Internet Tablet Talk there’s a video from Marcelo from iNdT showing off a plug-in which intergrates Youtube into Canola…
ThoughtFix over at TabletBlog has an interesting article up on how to turn your N800 into a virtual Chumby. Don’t know what a chumby is? Well heres some info:
The chumby is a compact device that displays useful and entertaining information from the web using your wireless internet connection. Always on, it shows — nonstop — what’s online that matters to you.
