N800 Mac Video Conversion

Nokia have released a version of their Video Converter software for the Mac! Great news for all Mac users, they now have an 'official' application to convert their video to a format supported by all Internet Tablets.

Head over to the Video Converter website for the download!

Numpty Physics N800

5/3/2008 - Comments(0)

The coolest game I've seen on the Intenet Tablets so far! What is Numpty Physics?

Harness gravity with your crayon and set about creating blocks, ramps, levers, pulleys and whatever else you fancy to get the little red thing to the little yellow thing.

Numpty Physics is a drawing puzzle game in the spirit (and style?) of Crayon Physics using the same excellent Box2D engine. Note though that I've not actually played CP so the experience may be very different. Numpty Physics includes a built-in editor so that you may build (and submit) your own levels.

Head over to the Numpty Physics garage page for details on how to install Numpty Physics!

SMplayer, Mplayer front end

4/30/2008 - Comments(0)

Most of us use Mplayer for most of our video needs on the Internet Tablets, the standard GUI is pretty basic and lacks many features. We can all cheer now as SMplayer has been ported to our devices.

This is a QT4 application and actually the first I've seen using QT4 for the Internet Tablets. Definatly the first of many since Nokia bought Trolltech.

Anyway head over to the QT4 Garage Page for more information and an easy 1 click install!

Dragon Hunt (RPG)

pipeline over at the Internet Tablet Talk Forms has ported the RPG Dragon Hunt to the N800/N810

Find out more informatin on Dragon Hunt at the ITT forums, looks like it could be a pretty decent game!

    Mozilla Mobile N800/N810?

    4/1/2008 - Comments(4)

It seems to be browser day here at the N800 Blog! I was doing some browsing and came across this absolute gem. Do you want to help test out the new Mozilla Mobile Browser on your Internet Tablet? Well if you head over to Christopher Blizzards blog you can do just that! Here's an idea of Mozilla Mobiles performance compared to MicroB (the current N800 / N810 browser):

Now thats a gigantic performance improvement over MicroB.

You can download and install Mozilla Mobile to your N800 /N810 by clicking here, remember though that this is a development version so there are things that do not work and a high possibility of bugs / crashes so only use it if you feel comfortable with that!

Update: Looks like this may be N810 only for now, apparently the soft keyboard is not currently support, I'll check it out when I get home to confirm this!

    WebKitGtk Midori Browser

    4/1/2008 - Comments(1)

Bundyo has ported over the WebKitGtk browser Midori over to the Maemo platform. I'd say there's still a bit of work to be done on the port but so far it looks pretty functional. If I remember correctly the WebKit framework is used on the Nokia s60 browser and also Safari the Mac browser.

    Changes

    * Hildonized.
    * Moved the progress bar from statusbar to the main toolbar.
    * Mapped stop/reload to Escape.
    * Fullscreen button always visible (since i didn't succeed in mapping it to the hardware fullscreen button).

    Issues

    * Some backgrounds are not rendered.
    * SVG support disabled - tell me if you need it.

Download it and give it a shot, let Bundyo know how you go with Midori!

    N810 WiMax Edition Details

    4/1/2008 - Comments(0)

Nokia have annonced the N810 WiMax edition. Here are some details taken from Internet Tablet Talk...

    1. It will run Diablo. Update for N810 and N800 coming.
    2. The email client is now Modest.
    3. There are no finalized rates/plans yet for XOHM (WiMAX).
    4. Over-the-air update is now built-in.
    5. Bulge at the back for better XOHM reception. I didn’t find the slight bulge to be an issue.
    6. Price will be $475 and should be out 2Q.
    7. No PIM planned yet.
    8. No one will confirm if this if the “4 of 5.”
    9. Connectivity has “Any Connection” option to switch automatically to WiMAX, WiFi, and Bluetooth. There is also an option for “WLAN and WiMAX.”
    10. Navigation software gets an upgrade.
    11. Still no video support for Skype.
    12. Color is black brushed metal, black keyboard, and goldish bezel.
    13. Case is pretty much the same but inside is carrot orange instead of sky blue.
Now if your based in Australia like myself I'm not sure if we have an Australia wide WiMax provider but I'll look into that one. Overall the new N810 looks like a pretty awesome device, personally I'm digging the new color scheme!

What are you thoughts on the WiMax enabled N810?
